bigbasket has promoted Seshu Kumar Tirumala to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In his new role, Seshu will oversee the company's operations and focus on expanding its quick commerce business.

He has been associated with bigbasket for over a decade, having joined the company in 2014 as National Head – Buying & Merchandising. Over the years, he took on larger responsibilities and most recently served as Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer.

Commenting on the appointment, Hari Menon, Founder and CEO of bigbasket, said that Seshu has been a key contributor to the company's growth journey. He highlighted Seshu's role in developing several important business functions, including private labels and the farmer sourcing network. Menon added that Seshu's deep knowledge of the business and proven leadership make him the right choice for this expanded position.

Speaking about his new responsibility, Seshu Kumar Tirumala said he is excited to take on a broader leadership role after spending more than ten years building the company's sourcing and merchandising strengths. He said his priority will be to improve operational efficiency, strengthen the farm-to-customer supply chain, and ensure customers continue to receive a reliable and seamless shopping experience as the business continues to grow.
