Veteran journalist and political analyst Sudhir S. Raval has launched his book, Beyond the Fault Lines of Modernity: A Journalist’s Inquiries into Power, the Crisis of Character and Humanity, offering a critical examination of contemporary democracy, governance, institutional accountability and the changing foundations of human values.

The book explores the growing challenges confronting democratic institutions in an era marked by unprecedented technological advancement, political complexities and deepening social and ethical concerns.

At the heart of Raval’s work is the argument that the challenges facing modern democracies go beyond administrative shortcomings and technical failures. According to the author, many of these problems are rooted in a deeper crisis of individual and collective character, where declining ethical values and weakened accountability threaten the foundations of democratic institutions.

The book argues that constitutional provisions, legal frameworks and institutional structures alone cannot ensure the long-term stability of a nation unless they are supported by integrity, moral responsibility and a commitment to justice.

Moving beyond conventional political commentary, Raval presents the book as an action-oriented manifesto for rethinking democracy, governance and global diplomacy. Through 50 comprehensive chapters, he introduces exclusive frameworks aimed at encouraging debate and identifying practical approaches to institutional reform and improved accountability.

Written from the perspective of an experienced journalist and political observer, the work examines the relationship between power, public institutions, leadership and humanity. It also seeks to explore how governance systems can be realigned with ethical principles and the larger interests of society.

The book is intended for statesmen, policymakers, academics, scholars, political analysts and citizens interested in understanding the challenges facing modern democratic societies.

With Beyond the Fault Lines of Modernity, Sudhir S. Raval seeks to contribute to the wider debate on the future of democracy and the need to place character, justice, accountability and human dignity at the centre of governance.
