On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh described the day as a historic milestone in the field of journalism.

Extending his wishes to journalists, Singh expressed hope that Hindi journalism would continue to grow stronger, more sensitive, and more people-centric in the coming years.

Taking to social media, Singh wrote, “A historic day for Hindi journalism. Today, Hindi journalism enters its 200th year. On May 30, 1826, the first Hindi newspaper ‘Udant Martand’ was published, edited by the illustrious Pandit Yugal Kishore Shukla.”

He further acknowledged the contributions of Udant Martand, noting that it laid the foundation of Hindi journalism and played a crucial role in giving momentum to the freedom movement.

“On this day, we respectfully remember the revered Yugal Kishore Shukla. Heartfelt greetings to all Hindi journalists on Hindi Journalism Day,” he concluded.
