Monika Shergill is a seasoned media and content executive with extensive experience in the entertainment industry.
A former journalist and documentary filmmaker, Shergill leads the development, creation, licensing and acquisition of all Indian-language content for Netflix and holds the position of Vice President of Content at Netflix India, a role she has held since April 2020.
While recently unveiling the 2025 content slate, Shergil shared her vision for the year promising bigger leaps and high-quality entertainment.
Prior to this role, she has also served as Director of International Originals at Netflix for nine months.
Earlier, she was the Executive Vice President & Head of Content at Viacom18 Digital Ventures (2015–2019). She also worked at Star India Pvt Ltd for nearly eight years in various creative leadership roles, including as a Creative Consultant and Senior Creative Director, Non-Fiction for Star Plus.
Her earlier career includes significant positions at Sony Entertainment Television (2002–2007) as Associate Creative Director, Fiction Programming, and at Miditech (1996–2000) as a Correspondent & Producer, where she worked on documentaries and travel series.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Honours from Miranda House, Delhi University, and completed her schooling at Sophia Girls’ School in Meerut.
