Saregama India has come out with a music video featuring India’s first fully animated 3D item girl, ‘Lady Chatterjee’.
A music album with nine songs, all of which revolve around the mobile or Internet space, and a music video featuring Lady Chatterjee are on offer. According to Atul Churamani, Vice-President, Artists and Repertoire, Saregama India, “The album is all about the experience of chatting on the mobile or Internet.”
He elaborated, “A lot of music is being consumed by this segment in the form of downloading of songs or ring tones, and to experiment in this category, Saregama has created this special property in Lady Chatterjee. If this experiment proves successful, we will create more with this property. We want to use it intelligently and keep it interesting.”
At the moment, the music video is available on the yahoo site for download. It will be introduced on the small screen shortly, beginning with MTV (for three days) and on other channels thereafter. The company has plans of extending the property, and the forms of extension being explored include gaming. A second video featuring Lady Chatterjee is in the making.
Sawan Dutta has sung the songs in this album, in a mix of Hindi and English. Shabbi -- in simple Bengali, making it easy to comprehend for non-Bengali listeners -- sings the Lady Chatterjee number. The CD will be available in the market from May 25, 2006.
C B Arun Kumar has created the animated character. The surname ‘Chatterjee’ is a take-off on ‘Lady Chatterly’, a character from D H Lawrence’s famous novel. Also, Chatterjee has the prefix ‘chat’, as in Internet ‘chat’ting.
One hopes that the virtual persona of Lady Chatterjee, with her pan-Indian looks infused with traditional Indian elements, will win hearts. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
