Netflix has announced a major, multi-year partnership with Yash Raj Films (YRF), India’s legendary production house, securing the worldwide streaming rights to a vast and iconic collection of YRF's cinematic library. The collaboration, which is set to extend into 2026, promises to bring the "colour, music, and emotional storytelling" of Indian cinema to audiences across more than 190 countries.

This strategic alliance is considered a significant milestone for championing Indian content globally, as it unlocks access to some of the most beloved and culturally defining films in Bollywood history.

The Global Gateway to YRF’s Five-Decade Legacy

YRF, founded in 1970 by the visionary Yash Chopra, has long been synonymous with Bollywood's golden era. Think sweeping Himalayan romances, high-octane action, and tales of love that transcend borders.

The curated roll-out of YRF's film slate is designed to align with major festivals, special occasions, and cinematic milestones, ensuring a continuous stream of celebrated content for global subscribers.

Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, commented on the deal, explaining that the partnership represents a powerful way to share YRF's five-decade cinematic legacy with audiences around the world.

Echoing this sentiment, Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, stated that the move deepens the platform’s commitment to bringing India's most iconic films to international viewers, building on the success of the YRF docu-series, The Romantics.

A Staggered Rollout of Superstars and Classics

The programming schedule is packed with star power and timeless classics, kicking off with several highly-anticipated collections:

  • The Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) Collection: Coinciding with the superstar’s 60th birthday, nine of his most celebrated YRF films—including the all-time romantic classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, along with Mohabbatein, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, and Chak De! India—have begun streaming on the platform.
  • Salman Khan Blockbusters: The festive season will see the premiere of blockbusters like Ek Tha Tiger, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda Hai, set to coincide with the star’s 60th birthday on December 27.
  • Timeless Classics: Audiences can revisit golden-era favourites such as Chandni, Kabhi Kabhie, Vijay, Lamhe, and Silsila, which began streaming from mid-November.
  • Ranveer Singh Showcase: A special collection featuring the actor's hits, including Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Kill Dil, Befikre, and Gunday, will debut on December 5.

Further enriching the library, 34 additional films—including family favourites like Bunty Aur Babli, Hum Tum, and Mujhse Dosti Karoge—are scheduled for release between December 12 and 28, with two titles premiering daily.

Looking ahead to 2026, the partnership will continue to deliver major franchises, with the full Dhoom trilogy scheduled to debut on November 28, followed by the Mardaani series on January 22, and a special Valentine’s Week line-up of romantic films starting February 7.

The Bigger Picture: Bollywood's Streaming Renaissance

This tie-up comes at a pivotal time for Bollywood, as streaming wars heat up and audiences crave authenticity. YRF, under the stewardship of Aditya Chopra, has evolved from theatre dominance to digital savvy, with past releases like Pathaan shattering box-office records. Netflix's global reach – over 270 million subscribers – positions YRF to transcend diaspora viewership and tap into curious newcomers.

So, queue up your popcorn, dim the lights, and let the YRF magic unfold. Whether it's Raj and Simran's train-top sprint or Tiger's high-stakes espionage, Netflix and YRF are ensuring Bollywood's classics aren't just preserved – they're alive, kicking, and ready to conquer the world, one binge-watches at a time.
