International Publishing, Events & anything Digital… Networkplay plans big on second birthday

Digital media company Networkplay (NP) has completed two years of operations in India, and for company CEO Rammohan Sundaram, it has been an eventful journey so far. “It’s indeed a milestone given that we began our endeavour when the chips were down with global markets sinking in 2008. From there to be able to sustain, build a team of 30 people and continuously innovate and grow, is a tremendous feeling,” he said in a conversation with exchange4media.

Elaborating further on some of the steps that the company had taken in the last two years, Sundaram explained, “We have always been an aggressive bunch at NP and that reflects in the kind of work we do. In terms of business, we have been in a growth phase. We have been extremely open about course correcting our business model that would add value to our customers, employers and stakeholders. This is why you will see us in every sphere that is remotely related to digital.”

Sundaram claims that the company is expecting a growth rate of 80 per cent in the coming year. Breaking that further, he said, “In the Internet business, we would grow at 25 per cent, at 75 per cent in DTH business, and 100 per cent in mobile but that is also because we had very little to offer in the mobile space last year. With research and events now coming into play, we are sure to grow by at least 80 per cent at a company level.”

On the cards for the company’s future plans are initiatives in the publishing business through alliances. Sundaram said that while it was still early days, some international titles in India can be expected by April 2011.

The immediate big thing on the agenda is international digital event ad:tech New Delhi 2011. This will be the first ever regional event in India and would bring together brand advertisers, traditional and interactive agencies, portals, on-line publishers and technology providers. The two-day exhibition and conference is being planned for 27-28 April 2011 in Delhi NCR (National Capital Region) and will provide the attendees with a mass of new knowledge and many new contacts.

Sundaram asserted, “ad:tech is the world’s number one technology and advertising event. It’s presence in India will enable knowledge sharing from some of the best in the world who will be addressing key notes and conferences. We are expecting over 500 CXO level delegates from the traditional marketing fraternity in categories such as FMCG and CD outside of auto, finance and the internet industry to name a few, who, as decision makers, will know a lot more about the medium to start investing in it in a bigger way thus fuelling the growth of the digital medium.”

Networkplay has put a 22-member advisory board that would be meeting on the November 8, 2010 to ensure that the right content, programming and speaker mix is attained.
