At the moment, some incredibly good stuff is happening on mobile. The Indian ecosystem now needs customised solutions, says the ED, Home & Personal Care Business, HUL
Mobile marketing is still in its nascent stage in the country; however, it is expected to be the medium of the future. According to Hemant Bakshi, Executive Director, Home and Personal Care Business, Hindustan Unilever, mobile is way ahead than any other device as of now.
There are almost 100 to 200 million consumers in the country who only want to access data and internet only through their mobile. The increasing number of pure mobile users in the country is one of its major strengths.
On being asked whether mobile as a medium is lacking in India, Bakshi shared that it is evolving. At the moment, some incredibly good stuff is happening on the medium. For instance, the geographical benefits of maps and various other applications are now available, he shared.
What the Indian mobile ecosystem now needs is customised solutions for various brands. Also, there is a huge need gap in terms of the people using basic phones. Players can focus on providing services to this TG.
Bakshi shared his thoughts at the MMA Jury Meet, which took place in Mumbai. The Smarties India 2013 winners will be recognised at an awards ceremony at Leela Kempinski, Gurgaon, India on Thursday, September 5, 2013.
