Amazon Prime Video most opted for Hindi films, TV shows; Netflix for Western movies: Study
Indian soap operas and sports programmes among the least watched genres with its consumption on Amazon Prime being slightly higher than on Netflix, says Redseer Consulting report
A report recently released by market research firm Redseer Consulting shows that while those watching content on MX player and Amazon Prime Video mostly opted for Hindi movies and TV shows, Netflix consumers had an affinity for western movies.
A comparison of the three OTT platforms shows that Netflix has the most diverse content library, with Amazon Prime coming next with a focus on regional content.
The study reveals that Indian soap operas and sports programmes are among the least watched genres with its consumption on Amazon Prime being slightly higher than on Netflix.
As per the study MX player has the highest viewership for Hindi films and Hindi TV shows and the numbers were at par for western films and local vernacular movies.
This was followed by Indian soap operas, sports and western TV shows which as per the report could be indicative of the genre diversity available on each platform and also the type of user mix.
