McCann’s Western Union brings India its first 2012 Gold
McCann Worldgroup’s work done for Western Union has fetched the agency an Outdoor Gold. There were no other India winners in the category
Of the 22 pieces of work shortlisted from India in the Outdoor Lions category, only one has managed to become a Lion. McCann Worldgroup’s work for Western Union has won India its first Gold Lion in 2012. The Gold Lion campaign was for Western Union’s Money Transfer category, entries titled ‘Franklin Gandhi’, ‘Lincoln Fahd’ and ‘Queen Mao’.
The Creative Director on the campaign is Prasoon Joshi. The Art Director is Akshay Kapnadak and the Copy Writer is Rahul Mathew.
In a conversation with exchange4media, Prasoon Joshi, Executive Chairman and CEO McCann Worldgroup India and President – South Asia said, “Winning a Gold at Cannes Lions always gives a great feeling. But this was a piece of work that we expected a Gold for. It is a very significant idea that pushed the boundary of the medium itself and showed that when you do that, it creates an avenue of fresh ideas.”
“The team really perfected it till they got it right. A lot of craft and a lot of work has gone into the entry and we are particularly pleased with this Gold,” said Joshi.
Sheung Yan Lo, Executive Creative Director, North East Asia; Chairman, JWT was the Jury President and Vikram Gaikwad Partner and Executive Creative Director Creativeland Asia was the Jury Member from India in the category this year.
The number of entries submitted by Indian agencies in the category dropped from 252 entries last year to 219 this year. Overall, Outdoor Lions got 4843 entries from 73 countries, which was an increase of eight percent compared to last year.
