WPP's Wunderman appoints Mel Edwards as Global Chief Executive Officer

She will take over from Mark Read, who was recently named as CEO of WPP

Wunderman, the digital agency from WPP has appointed Mel Edwards as its Global Chief Executive Officer, and she will take over from Mark Read who was recently named as CEO of WPP.

According to reports, Edwards will lead a staff of 9,200 across 200 offices in 70 markets, and she will be responsible for driving Wunderman's 'Creative Driven. Data Inspired' message to brands.

Speaking on her new role Mel Edwards, the new Global CEO of Wunderman said, “I’ve been honoured to call Wunderman my home for the past six years. It’s a place that empowers people to do their best work and attracts today’s brightest talent. I’m proud to accept this new responsibility as global CEO and I’m excited to work with the people of Wunderman to drive the agency forward – combining our creative, data and technology capabilities to deliver the best work and results for our clients.”

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Read, CEO of WPP said, “Mel is an exceptional leader who demonstrated her ability to build the business by winning new clients and developing existing ones, attracting top talent and integrating technology into our offer. Prior to this, as Wunderman's EMEA CEO, Mel Edwards was instrumental in bolstering the company's position by retaining big clients such as BT, Samsung and Shell over the past year.
