Mira Murati, Former OpenAI Chief Technology Officer, has launched a new AI startup named Thinking Machines Lab. Murati is now the of Thinking Machines Lab, the AI startup focused on building AI that truly works for people’s unique needs.
In her team, Mira has roped in leading researchers and engineers from competitors including OpenAI, Meta and Mistral.
Thinking Machines Lab is focused on AI that enhances human-AI collaboration—one of the biggest challenges in the field. It is an artificial intelligence research and product company with scientists, engineers, and builders who have worked for most widely used AI products and libraries, including ChatGPT, Character.ai, PyTorch, and Mistral.
According to the latest post by Generative AI on LinkedIn, several leaders who have been named as part of the startup include OpenAI co-founder John Schulman, who is working as chief scientist at the company, Barret Zoph (ex-VP of Research at OpenAI), Alexander Kirillov, John Lackman, Luke Metz (AI research leads) and other experts from Google and Mistral AI.
"Our mission is to make artificial intelligence work for you by building a future where everyone has access to the knowledge and tools to make AI serve their unique needs. We are committed to open science through publications and code releases, while focusing on human-AI collaboration that serves diverse domains.
