TAM AdEx report: Print sees good growth in Consumer Durable, Auto & Retail sectors

Home appliance, air conditioner, water purifier, car, two-wheeler, electronic, clothing, departmental store and home/interior were some of the leading categories in the three sectors

Print AdEx data for the period Q1 ’19 v/s Q1 ’18 for Consumer Durable, Auto and Retail sectors is out.

The top 5 categories, brands and advertisers in the Consumer Durable sector were consumer durable/home appliance, air conditioner, water purifier/filter, air cooler and refrigerator brands.

The report states that as compared to 2018, the consumer durable/home appliance category indexed a growth of 100%, water purifier/filter category witnessed a growth of 111%, the air cooler category saw a growth of 120% and the refrigerator segment grew by 10.5 times. However, the air conditioner category witnessed a fall of 78%.

The top 5 advertisers for 2019 (based on ad space) were TTK Prestige India, Havells India, Stovekraft, Kent Ro System and Kitchen Appliances. The top 5 brands that ruled the game were Prestige Range, Pigeon Home Appliances, Kent Mineral Ro, Lloyd Grande and Panasonic Twin Cool Inverter AC.

The report also gives a collective data on TV, Print and Radio. The report states that categories such as lighting product, fan, water purifier/filter, wire & cable and consumer durable/home appliance ruled the charts.

The top 5 advertisers in the segment were Microtek International, Orient Electric, Saregama HMV India, Philips Electronics India and Polycab Wires. Whereas, the top 5 brands in the segment were Livfast Inverters and Batteries, Orient Aeroslim, Saregama Carvaan, V-Guard Wires and Microtek Jumbo Ups.

In the Auto sector, the top 5 categories that ruled the segment in Print for Q1 ‘19 are car, two-wheeler, commercial vehicle, tyre and tractor. In Q 1 ’18, categories such as two- wheeler, car, commercial vehicle, tractor and corporate-auto had topped the charts.

The data states that as compared to 2018, the car category has indexed a growth of 115 % and the tyre category has witnessed a growth of 146 %. The two-wheeler category saw a downfall of 70%, commercial vehicle category saw a fall of 71% and the tractor segment also saw a fall of 76%.

Based on ad space, the top 5 advertisers in the sector in Q1 ’19 were Maruti Suzuki India, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero Motocorp and TVS Motor Company.

In the top 5 brand category, Maruti Car Range, Hero Two Wheelers (Hero Corp), Honda Two Wheelers, Bajaj Motorcycle Range and Bajaj Pulsar Neon Edition were at the top.

Moving on, in the TV, Radio and Print collective data, the brand and advertisers indexed a hefty growth. Cars, two- wheelers, automotive batteries, tyres, corporate-auto were the top 5 categories in Q1 ‘19.

The reports said that Maruti Suzuki India, TVS Motor Company, Honda Cars India, Hero Motocorp, Mahindra & Mahindra were the top 5 advertisers. The top 5 brands that went all out were Okaya Batteries, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV 300, Nissan Kicks and Yamaha FZ S FI.

In the Retail sector, electronic/durable, clothing/textile/fashion, departmental store, home/interior/furniture categories ruled the charts in Print.

The Top 5 advertisers in the retail sector were Future Retail, Reliance Retail, Pai International, Vasanth & Co and Girias. Whereas, Big Bazaar, Vasanth & Co, Girias, Poorvika Mobile World and Pai International were top 5 brands in Print.

On the collective data in retail sector for TV, Radio and Print, the report states that clothing/textile/fashion, electronic/durable, departmental store, home/interior/furniture and optical were top 5 categories.

Reliance Retail, The Chennai Silks Group, Future Retail, Vasanth & Co and Future Lifestyle Fashion were the top 5 advertisers in the segment for Q1 ’19. The Chennai Silks, Reliance Trends, Vasanth & Co, Big Bazaar and Reliance Digital were the top 5 brands.
