Satyabrata Das, Chief Alliance Officer at Laqshya Media Limited, has paid tribute to the legendary adman, Piyush Pandey. He fondly calls the icon as the ‘Desi Heart of Indian Advertising’.

There are legends who redefine industries, and then there are rare souls who humanize them.

Padma Shri Piyush Pandey, or as we fondly called him, Piyush Bhai, was one such soul.

He was, in every way, a Desi Bhartiya, proudly Indian at heart, mind, and spirit. His work didn’t just sell brands; it celebrated India. The people, the quirks, the emotions, the earthy humor, everything that made our country’s heart beat a little louder.

From Fevicol to Cadbury Dairy Milk to Asian Paints, every campaign he created had a simple truth, it came from life, not from data. His genius lay in understanding how India thinks, feels, and dreams.

He spoke the language of the streets, the homes, and the hearts, not just the conference rooms.

What made Piyush Bhai extraordinary wasn’t only his creativity, but his clarity.

He never believed in Excel sheets or flashy presentations. He carried his campaigns in his heart.

When he walked into a client meeting, he didn’t “pitch”, he connected.

If the client understood him, the rest was always pure magic.

He was earthy, warm, witty, and utterly unpretentious.

Every conversation with him felt like sitting with an old friend, a man who made you laugh, think, and reflect, often all in the same moment.

Whenever I met him, I would often say,

“Piyush Bhai, thoda health ka khayal rakho… please take care of yourself.”

He would just smile and wave it off, as if saying, “Arre yaar, kaam karte hain, zindagi jeete hain.”

Gone too soon, yes, but in retrospect, I believe he lived life the only way he knew: full-heartedly.

And yet, his legacy will live on.

He’s left behind enough “PP”, passion, purpose, and pure brilliance, to inspire generations to come.

One of the brightest reflections of his spirit continues in his brother, Prasoon Pandey, who carries the same creative flame forward.

We will miss his laughter, his one-liners, and that warm cheer with his favorite drink.

But most of all, we will miss the man, a legend who made India see itself with pride and affection.

Rest in peace, Piyush Bhai.

You didn’t just make ads

you made India smile.

And that’s a legacy no time can ever fade.
