John O’Keeffe has resigned from his post as the Global Chief Creative Officer of WPP, after serving there for 12 years.

Media reports suggest that WPP won’t be retaining the post of global CCO after O’Keeffe’s departure. It was communicated to the employees via an internal mail sent by WPP CEO Mark Read. Henceforth, all duties related to creative standards of the holding company will be entrusted to the agencies.

O’Keeffe had joined WPP in 2008. During his tenure, WPP had won seven Cannes Lion Holding Company of the Year awards and eight Effies.

Prior to WPP, O’Keeffe was associated with Saatchi & Saatchi and Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
