Meta has appointed Dhruv Vohra as Managing Director, Global Business Group, Southeast Asia, expanding his remit after over seven years with the company.

Vohra will lead Meta’s commercial business across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. He will report to Benjamin Joe, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Meta.

In his new role, Vohra will work with advertisers and agencies across the region, focusing on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), messaging and Meta’s family of apps to drive business growth. He will also oversee Meta’s partnerships across Southeast Asia.

“Southeast Asia is one of Meta’s fastest-growing business regions, and the work ahead is helping businesses leverage AI and messaging at the pace their customers already expect,” Joe says.

Vohra moves into the role from his current position as Managing Director, Small and Medium Business (SMB) Group, Asia Pacific, which he has held since April 2023. The new appointment also marks his return to a Southeast Asia-focused role.

He previously served as Managing Director, Meta Business Group, Mid-Market, Southeast Asia, between October 2021 and April 2023. Vohra joined Meta in August 2019 as Director and Head of Sales for ecommerce and digital-native businesses.

Vohra says Southeast Asia’s digital and ecommerce landscape has changed considerably since he joined Meta in 2019. While large shopping events were still emerging as a consumer behaviour then, he says buying journeys are increasingly taking place through conversations, with consumers discovering products, seeking information, comparing options and completing purchases through chat.

He also points to the growing use of AI by businesses to manage customer interactions, including through Meta Business Agent.

According to Vohra, his experience working with SMBs across Asia Pacific will be relevant to his new mandate. He also highlights the pace at which businesses in Southeast Asia are adopting new technologies and experimenting with products.

At Meta, Vohra has held roles spanning ecommerce, mid-market and SMB businesses. He also writes the LinkedIn newsletter Small to Scale: Inside APAC’s Innovative SMBs, which looks at how SMBs across Asia Pacific are changing the way they sell. He has also contributed to Meta’s SYNC Southeast Asia thought-leadership series on digital consumer behaviour and ecommerce.

Before Meta, Vohra spent more than eight years at Google. He joined the company in India in 2011 as Industry Manager, Multi Sector, before moving to Singapore, where he held roles including Industry Manager for domestic businesses and Head of Industry, Tech & Telecom, Southeast Asia.

His last role at Google was Industry Lead, Apps, Commerce and Entertainment, APAC, which he held from April 2018 to July 2019. Vohra also served as an external adviser to Bain & Company between June 2022 and January 2025.
