Digital advertising agency Blink Digital India has approached the Bombay High Court seeking damages exceeding Rs 1,000 crore from Meta over the disabling of its business accounts and corporate pages on the company's platforms.
The agency has filed a commercial suit against Facebook India Online Services and Meta Platforms, challenging the disabling of four Business Manager accounts and seeking their restoration alongside damages.
Meta's Business Manager platform allows advertising agencies to manage multiple client accounts, advertising campaigns and business pages across Facebook and Instagram. The disabling of these accounts can disrupt an agency's ability to manage campaigns and access advertising assets on behalf of its clients.
The matter came up before Justice Sandeep V Marne on September 17, when counsel representing Meta sought two weeks to file an affidavit opposing Blink Digital's interim application.
The court granted the request and allowed Blink Digital one additional week to file its rejoinder after receiving Meta's response. The interim application has been listed for hearing on October 12 at 4:30 pm.
During the hearing, senior advocate Janak Dwarkadas, appearing for Meta Platforms, stated that the company would preserve Blink Digital's data in accordance with the law until the next hearing. The undertaking was recorded in the court's September 17 order.
The court has not yet ruled on the legality of the account disablement or Blink Digital's claim for damages.
The dispute highlights the operational dependence of digital advertising agencies on major technology platforms, where restrictions on business accounts can affect campaign management, client servicing and access to advertising data.
The next hearing will consider Blink Digital's application for interim relief, while the broader commercial suit seeking damages remains pending before the Bombay High Court.
