Grasim Industries Ltd has appointed Sachin Sahay as the new Chief Executive Officer of Birla Opus Paints. As part of this role, he will also join the company’s senior leadership team. His appointment will come into effect from February 16, 2026, as shared in a regulatory announcement.
Sahay takes over the role following the exit of Rakshit Hargave, who earlier led the paints business. The company said the decision was approved by its Board after recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Before joining Grasim, Sahay spent many years at ITC, where he last held the position of Executive Vice President – Sales. He brings over 30 years of experience in sales and marketing, having worked across different parts of India and handled both early-stage and large-scale leadership roles.
At ITC, Sahay played an important role in strengthening the company’s FMCG presence. He was closely involved in setting up and expanding the distribution network, helping grow it into a nationwide system.
Throughout his career, he has led multiple brand launches, expanded reach in both urban and rural markets, and managed large business transformation initiatives. His experience also includes improving operations through field force automation and simplifying distributor and stockist processes across ITC’s businesses, including cigarettes, foods and FMCG, leading to better efficiency and stronger partner relationships.
