At the upcoming meeting, Disney shareholders will vote on Williams’ nomination along with the re-election of the company’s current 10 directors.

Williams retired earlier this year after serving as Chief Operating Officer at Apple. Since becoming COO in 2015, he managed Apple’s global supply chain, service, support, and world-class design teams. Among his notable achievements during nearly 30 years at Apple, Williams led the launch of the Apple Watch and developed the company’s health and fitness strategy.

James P. Gorman, Chairman of Disney’s Board, said, “Jeff Williams is an exceptional executive who has guided one of the world’s most admired companies for decades. His expertise in technology, operations, and product design makes him a valuable addition to Disney’s board as the company continues to innovate and deliver outstanding storytelling.”

Williams said, “I’ve always admired Disney’s ability to combine imagination with technology to bring stories to life. I’m honored to be nominated and look forward to contributing to Disney’s creative and innovative journey alongside its talented leadership team.”

Williams joined Apple in 1998 as Head of Worldwide Procurement and became Vice President of Operations in 2004. He played a key role in the launch of the first iPhone and later oversaw global product operations, supply chain, service, and support. In 2013, he began leading the Apple Watch project and Apple’s health and fitness initiatives. Before Apple, Williams held engineering and operations roles at IBM.
