Lockdown period to be considered as case of natural calamity: East Central Railway

The East Central Railway has said that as per the Ministry of Finance the lockdown period should be considered as a case of natural calamity and Force Majeure clause may be invoked during manual procurement of goods.

The above clause, according to a note issued, will be applicable for all commercial earning contracts – Minor Static Clearing Units AVMs, Parking, Pay & Use, AC Waiting Halls, Cloak Rooms, Book Stalls, ATMs, which were non-operational during the lockdown.

The ministry has also notified that the contract period will be extended for which the earnings were not in operation as and when such request is received from the licensees, with the approval of concerned DRMs.
