Sangbad Pratidin hosts 2nd Sunfeast Telly Samman Awards 2006
Sangbad Pratidin, a leading Bengali daily, recently organised the second Sunfeast Telly Samman Awards 2006 in Kolkata. The main purpose behind organizing such an event is to give recognition to Bengali channels and their softwares .
Sangbad Pratidin, a leading Bengali daily, recently organised the second Sunfeast Telly Samman Awards 2006 in Kolkata. The Awards recognise the achievements of Bengali channels and their softwares.
The award winners were decided through a public opinion poll carried across West Bengal by Sangbad Pratidin and a market survey agency. A panel of judges then selected the best in each category. Some new categories like Best Debutante, Best Television Reporter, Best Editor, Best Cameraman, Best Scriptwriter, Best Make-up Artiste and Best Sound Recordist were introduced in this year’s Awards.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to well known Bengali actress of yesteryears, Supriya Devi.
Aakash Bangla’s ‘Khoj Khabor’ won the Best News Based Programme award, while the Best Travel Based Programme awards went to E TV Bangla’s ‘Jacchi’. Anindya Bandopadhyay received the Best Telefilm Director award for ‘Sudhu Tomari Janya’, which shown on ETV Bangla. The Mega Serial award went to ‘Tithir Atithi’ (ETV Bangla), the Best Television Reporter award went to Anilava Chattopadhyay for ‘Dus Miniter Khel’ on Aakash Bangla, Best Editor award went to Arghakamal Mitra and Subhrabaran Mitra for ‘Joy Baba Felunath’ on ETV Bangla, Bappa Chakraborty was adjudged the Best Cameraman for ‘Neel Simana’ on Zee Bangla.
Elaborating on the Awards, Srinjoy Bose, Editor, Sangbad Pratidin, said, “We visualise the Sunfeast Telly Samman Awards 2006 as another golden opportunity for us to offer a befitting tribute to the glory of Bangla Cinema. It is a rare opportunity for us to strike a chord with the true cinema loving Kolkatans in our own way .We hope that this Awards show will create its stature of a calender event for the Bangla film industry.”
