Revenues and profits on the rise for Sun TV, subscription revenues grow 15% YoY to Rs 270.50 cr
Sun TV’s Q1 report shows strong growth in revenues and profits. Subscription revenue too grows YoY

In June, Sun TV got into a business association with Amagi Media Labs, a leader in targeted TV advertising and cloud-based TV broadcast infrastructure and it seems like all is going well for the leading television broadcaster.
The satellite channel operator has recorded revenues that have all been in the greens. Revenues for the first quarter ended on 30th June were Rs 786.32 crore while profits were recorded at Rs 251.64 crore. The subscription revenues also do not show any signs of slowing down as it grows at Rs 270.50 crore.
As compared to the previous year in the same quarter, Sun TV has increased their revenues by 3 per cent YoY. The revenues in the similar quarter last year was Rs 760.83 crore. The subscription revenue has grown in double digits at 15 per cent (Rs 270.50 cr) as compared to last year’s revenue of Rs 234.68 crore while profits too have grown by 8 per cent (Rs 251.64 crore) as compared to last year’s Rs 233.06 crore.

According to media reports, Sun TV’s viewership has reportedly seen a drop for the first time in a decade. Sun TV (SD) is leading the Tamil GEC channels and garners over 1 billion impressions every week with close to 90 per cent reach across Tamil Nadu. Sun TV HD has 40 per cent viewership in Chennai, 17 per cent in Bangalore and 43 per cent in the remaining state.
