Kingshuk Mitra, who previously held the position of Head of Ad Sales, Sports at Disney Star, will now take on the role of overseeing Agency Relations for the consolidated network at JioStar. His career spans over two decades, covering key roles across media planning, ad sales, and agency partnerships, providing a solid foundation for his new responsibilities.

In his recent role at Disney Star, Mitra was responsible for maximizing ad sales across various sports properties, leveraging partnerships, and implementing monetization strategies. Prior to Disney Star, he was the COO for APAC Essence/GroupM at WPP, where he directed strategic operations across Asia. His earlier experience includes roles as Managing Director at Maxus GroupM in the Philippines, Client Leader at Maxus India, and strategic positions at Madison World, Emami, and Mindshare India.
Kingshuk Mitra will report directly to Ajit Varghese, Head of Revenue, Entertainment and International at Jiostar.
On November 14, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company finalized a joint venture (JV) that marks a major shift in India's media and entertainment landscape. This JV, approved by NCLT Mumbai, the Competition Commission of India, and other regulatory bodies, combines Viacom18’s and JioCinema's media assets with Star India, creating a conglomerate valued at around Rs 70,352 crore (US$8.5 billion). RIL has invested Rs 11,500 crore (US$1.4 billion) in the JV to support its growth.
Controlled by RIL with a 56% stake, the JV includes Disney (36.84%) and Viacom18 (46.82%) and brings together top entertainment brands such as Star, Colors, JioCinema, and Hotstar. With over 100 TV channels, 30,000+ hours of annual content, and a digital subscriber base exceeding 50 million, this JV is set to reshape India's entertainment industry.
