Riding on the impressive success of the Popstar and Popstar 2 hunts, CHannel [V] feels it is time to expand the boundaries of entertainment television with a fresh and innovative concept.
And, CHannel [V] – India’s first home-grown 24×7 music channel croons: It’s the time to….., no, not to Disco, but ‘Be A Supermodel’, as LG CDMA launches [V] Get Gorgeous – its nationwide hunt for India’s next Supermodel.
At the launch of the supermodel hunt, Amar K Deb, Head, CHannel [V], said: “We believe in creating stars by nurturing the talent and aspirations of the youth of the country. CHannel [V] is providing them with a platform to promote themselves.” Powered by Elite India – a famed modelling agency, [V] Get Gorgeous would travel to Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai. “This first-ever joint initiative by Elite India and CHannel [V] represents an innovative and fun-filled idea,” says Sushma Puri, Director and CEO, Elite Model Management (India). Elite has close to ninety models. Some of them would be seen in the forthcoming Lakme India Fashion Week 2004.
And, it is simple. Said Puri: “You don’t need any portfolios, shots or prior experience to enter. It’s just pure and untapped beauty.” To enter, the aspiring models need to rush to the nearest Café Coffee Day outlet and drop in an entry with their photograph and personal details. The Hunt is expected to take about four months before gifting India a new supermodel.
