BARC Week 42: Zee TV takes over Urban Market with three shows in Top 5 programs
The Diwali week (October 14-20) television viewership witnessed a fall in the urban market while the rural market saw a spike, according to latest BARC data
According to BARC data for Week 42 (October 14-20) television viewership witnessed a fall in the urban market compared to previous week with Zee TV leading with 404 million impressions. Colors ruled the same market last week with 424 million impressions.
On the other hand rural market saw an increased consumption during Diwali week with the leader Zee Anmol ruling with improved 603 million impressions as against previous week’s 587 million impressions. Except Rishtey and Colors, other channels in this market witnessed an improvement in their viewership.
Overall there was an increase with Zee Anmol leading the Top 10 channels by 766 million impressions compared to previous week’s 757 million impressions. Its ‘Kaala Teeka’ ranked third with 9.2 million impressions. It was followed by Zee TV and Star Bharat with 704 and 598 million impressions respectively.
Zee TV’s popular properties, ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ took the first and second spots in the Top 5 programs overall with 11.6 million and 10.5 million impressions, respectively. Its popular reality show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ entered the category at fourth spot with 8.7 million impressions.
SET’s iconic property ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ slipped to fifth spot in the Top 5 programs with 8.2 million impressions.
Zee TV overtook Colors to lead the urban market with 404 million impressions compared to 392 million impressions it had in Week 41. As usual its ‘Kundali Bhagya’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ held on to second and third spots in the Top 5 Programs (Urban) list fetching 6.4 million and 5.7 million impressions respectively. Its popular reality show ‘Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’ entered the category at fourth spot with 5.6 million impressions.
SET retained its second spot with 387 million impressions, compared to previous week’s 418 million impressions. ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ continued to dominate the Top 5 programs in this market with 6.4 million impressions.
Colors slipped to third spot with 374 million impressions, as against its previous week’s 424 million impressions. None of the shows made it to the Top 5 Programs.
Star Plus held on to its fourth spot with decreased 312 million impressions, compared to 335 million impressions it had in Week 41. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ maintained its fifth spot in the Top 5 Programs with 5.5 million impressions.
Sony SAB climbed to fifth spot with 274 million impressions, as against its previous week’s 261 million impressions.
Zee Anmol maintained its lead over the rural market with improved 603 million impressions. Its shows ‘Kaala Teeka’ and ‘Jamai Raja’ took the first and second spot in the Top 5 Programs (Rural) with 6.5 million and 6.2 impressions, respectively.
Sony Pal held on to its second spot with improved 411 million impressions. Its show ‘Baalveer’ maintained its third spot with 5.6 million impressions while ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ climbed on to fourth spot with 5.5 million impressions.
Star Bharat also retained its third spot with 331 million impressions. None of its shows made it to the Top 5 Programs list.
Even Zee TV held on to its fourth spot with 300 million impressions. It popular show ‘Kundali Bhagya’ took the fifth spot with 5.2 million impressions.
Rishtey climbed to fifth spot with 257 million impressions.
