Mathrubhumi innovates with augmented reality
With its augmented reality app, Mathrubhumi will be able to bring interactivity to static print pages with video overlays, slideshows, social media connect & links to download content
TELiBrahma Technologies and Mathrubhumi have joined hands to bring a new way for readers to interact with the Malayalam newspaper. With a readership of about 65 lakh, Mathrubhumi will be the first newspaper from Kerala to launch an augmented reality application.
Front page news, sports news and global news are augmented in the first phase. ‘Mathrubhumi Insight’, powered by TELiBrahma, is available for readers from November 1, 2013.
By integrating augmented reality, Mathrubhumi will be able to bring interactivity to static print pages with video overlays, slideshows, social media connect, links to download content and so on, and emphasise the importance of connecting print publications with digital engagements through mobile.
“Mathrubhumi Insight brings another dimension to printed content through a combination of augmented reality and visual recognition technology. The application enables us to deliver multimedia content through our print products, thus making the reading experience wholesome, interactive and exciting,” said MV Shreyams Kumar, Director, Marketing & Electronic Media, Mathrubhumi.
PR Satheesh, Principal, TELiBrahma Technologies added here, “People from Kerala are the most involved and knowledgeable when it comes to news, it would be our privilege to extend a new experience through Mathrubhumi Insight, a mobile application powered by TELiBrahma’s PointART for the most discerning reader of Mathrubhumi.”
