Jagran Prakashan slated to close down Pune edition of Mid-Day

In December 2011, Delhi and Bangalore editions of Mid-Day were closed down and now Jagran Prakashan has also closed their Mid-Day Pune Edition.

Basant Rathore, VP, Strategy, Business Development and Brand, at Jagran Prakashan said, “Midday Pune Edition was financially a loss making one. It was insignificant from a business point of view and hence the decision to close it. We will focus our resources and efforts on the core Mumbai Edition for Midday.”

The news of winding up the Pune edition was doing rounds for some time now.

The edition was launched in 2009 and has been trying to gain momentum since then. The paper was competing with TOI’s Pune Mirror.

Jagran Prakashan had acquired Mid-Day in May 2010 and post that they have closed Delhi and Bangalore editions in two years. Currently the Mumbai edition is running with the daily dose of crime, politics and entertainment news.
