- Snap Inc has appointed Ronan Harris, previously President for EMEA, as Chief Commercial Officer to lead global advertising sales and go-to-market operations, succeeding Chief Business Officer Ajit Mohan.
- Harris joined Snap in October 2022 and has a 17-year background at Google, where he held various leadership roles in advertising across EMEA, making him well-suited for his new position.
- His appointment comes as Snap aims to enhance its advertising platform and performance advertising business, following a period of growth in the EMEA region.
- Snap's overall revenue increased by 19% year-on-year in Q2 2026, and the company is focusing on restructuring to improve its advertising products and measurable outcomes for advertisers.
Snap Inc has named Ronan Harris, its President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as Chief Commercial Officer. The former Google executive will now lead Snap’s global advertising sales and go-to-market operations.
Harris takes over the company’s commercial leadership as Chief Business Officer Ajit Mohan prepares to step down after nearly four years at Snap.
The appointment puts a veteran advertising executive at the helm of Snap's commercial organisation at a time when the company has been working to strengthen its advertising platform and build its performance advertising business.
“Ronan brings deep advertising expertise, strong relationships with our partners, and a sustained record of growth at Snap,” CEO Evan Spiegel said while announcing the appointment. “I look forward to working with him in this new role as we help more advertisers succeed on Snapchat and grow our advertising business.”
Who is Ronan Harris?
Harris joined Snap in October 2022 as President of EMEA and has spent nearly four years leading its business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His elevation follows a period of sustained growth for the region.
Before Snap, Harris spent 17 years at Google, making advertising and technology the common thread across much of his career.
He joined Google's EMEA headquarters in Dublin in 2005 and went on to hold a series of leadership positions across the region, including building and leading parts of its EMEA operations and business in the Middle East and North Africa. He eventually served as Vice President and Managing Director of Google UK and Ireland.
Harris' Google years are particularly relevant to his new mandate. He worked extensively on the company's online advertising sales business across EMEA, giving Snap an executive with experience operating one of the world's largest digital advertising businesses as it looks to deepen its own relationships with brands and agencies.
An electronic engineering graduate from University College Dublin, Harris began his career in Japan with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation's Information Storage Products division. He subsequently spent around nine years in Japan working across consulting and technology before returning to Ireland in 2001 to work in private equity.
Harris’ elevation also comes as Snap continues to rework its advertising engine.
Mohan, announcing his departure, said that when he joined Snap, the company had set out to rebuild its advertising business ‘from the ground up’, including rewiring its ads platform for performance and making direct response a bigger engine of the business.
Harris will now inherit that work at a global level.
Snap's overall revenue grew 19% year-on-year in Q2 2026, while the platform is approaching the one-billion-user mark globally. The company is also restructuring parts of the organisation to place greater emphasis on engineering and advertising products.
Harris therefore takes over at an important point in Snap's commercial evolution: the challenge is no longer simply growing Snapchat's audience, but translating its scale into stronger and more measurable advertiser outcomes.
