Paramount Skydance Corp., the Hollywood studio led by independent filmmaker David Ellison, is reportedly preparing a takeover offer for Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.

According to reports, the proposal is aimed at acquiring the entire company, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Warner Bros. Discovery had last year announced plans to split its operations into two divisions, with one focused on cable television and the other on its streaming and studio businesses.

The Ellison family is said to be backing the Paramount bid. David Ellison is the son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, whose fortune is estimated at around $383 billion, making him the world’s richest individual.

Paramount’s portfolio spans film and television studios, broadcast outlets such as CBS and MTV, and the Paramount+ streaming platform.

Warner Bros. Discovery similarly has major holdings, including HBO, CNN, and its Max streaming service, alongside its film and TV production operations.
