Warner Bros. had a night to remember at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15, 2026, walking away with 11 Oscars. The wins were driven mainly by two standout films: Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which claimed 6 awards including Best Picture and Best Director, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which added 4 (highlighted by Michael B. Jordan’s Best Actor win). A third Warner Bros. title, Weapons, picked up 1 additional trophy.

Netflix finished as the clear runner-up with 7 Oscars. The streamer earned 3 for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein (makeup/hairstyling, costume design, production design), 2 for the animated feature KPop Demon Hunters (best animated feature and best original song), and one each in live-action short and documentary short categories.

NBCUniversal received 13 nominations across three films released through its Focus Features label, along with one nomination for Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World Rebirth. Focus Features ultimately secured a win in the acting category, with Jessie Buckley taking home the Oscar for best actress for her performance as Agnes in Hamnet.

Independent studio A24 entered the ceremony with one of the most nominated films of the year. Its title Marty Supreme received nine nominations, including best picture, best director and best actor. However, despite the strong showing in nominations, the film left the ceremony without a win.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney’s 20th Century Studios earned a single Oscar for visual effects for Avatar: Fire and Ash, following a total of five nominations for the film. Apple, which has been expanding its presence in filmmaking, also secured an Academy Award for best sound for F1.

While legacy studio Warner Bros still dominated in the biggest categories, the night’s results also underline the growing influence of streaming platforms and smaller production houses. These wins, spread across genres and platforms, signal that great films continue to find their audience and recognition, no matter who’s releasing them.
