Senior media leader Avinash Pandey, one of Indian broadcasting’s most influential voices, celebrates his birthday today, marking another milestone in a career that has shaped newsrooms, policies, and industry practices for close to three decades.
Widely recognised for his long and defining association with ABP Network, Pandey steered the organisation through a rapidly shifting media environment, first as COO and later as CEO. His tenure saw ABP accelerate its digital transition, build editorial agility, and consolidate its position as a multi-platform news powerhouse during one of the most competitive eras in Indian television.
Earlier this year, Pandey took charge as Secretary General of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), the apex body representing India’s television broadcasters and digital platforms. In July 2025, he expanded his professional portfolio by joining Laqshya Media Group as Director, bringing strategic depth to the company’s OOH and integrated media operations. He also assumed the role of Senior Advisor – Media Practices at Primus Partners, strengthening his presence in advisory and policy circles.
Across the industry, Pandey is valued as much for his strategic leadership as for his policy engagement. He has played key roles in bodies such as the International Advertising Association (India Chapter), the News Broadcasters & Digital Association, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM, and has contributed to multiple committees under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. His insights on regulation, advertising, and digital transformation have often positioned him as one of the sector’s most credible voices.
An alumnus of Hindu College, Delhi University, with executive education from Harvard Business School, Pandey blends academic rigor with an intuitive grasp of India’s evolving media landscape. His global exposure and on-ground operational leadership continue to inform his approach to brand building, audience engagement, and industry-wide reform.
