Over the last decade, India has become the fastest growing economy in the World. From infrastructure to trade to space research to artificial intelligence and more, India has been at the forefront; paving the way for a brand ‘New India’. Most of these achievements must be attributed to the new fearless and ambitious attitude of its new generation and their commitment to shine.  These successes have been and continue to be the result of a huge attitude shift amongst the young Indian populous – an attitude of being bold and fearless to achieve success.

India’s obsession with cricket is a thread that continues to bring the nation together. Embodying the bold spirit of this new generation, the men and women’s national teams continue to reach newer heights and achieving great feats across the world. Inspired by this fearless spirit of the national teams, Nike, the official apparel sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has launched the latest ODI kit for the men’s and women’s national teams.

Designed to enhance the dynamic movements and modern requirements of the game and the athletes, the new engineered mesh and strategically placed sweat zones help enhanced breathability for the team on the field. Inspired by the young new generation of India, the new design moves away from a traditional silhouette to using new innovative cut lines alongside dynamic material combinations to emphasize a Multi-dimensional Slash Design and Movement approach.

Talking about the new kit, Virat Kohli, Captain, Indian cricket team, said ‘Similar to millions of Indians across the country, this team embodies a fearless spirit that we truly believe in and that’s what the world sees every time we step into the field. Over the years, our cricket has evolved – the way we approach games and embrace situations are different but what stands out is the confidence in our individual skills and our commitment to succeed as a team. This new team kit is a testament to our style of play, it is inspired by us and the new India.’

Taking inspiration from the stadiums and the three historic wins in 83’ 07’ And 11’, the inner pride print pays tribute to the three India victories while the slash pride orange under-collar represents the fearless energy of the team. The new placket construction, the flex crest, garment cut angles and slash taping all add to making the new jersey lighter, more breathable and helps the athletes be agile on the field.

Harmanpreet Kaur, member of Indian Women’s National Team, said ‘Over the last couple of years, our team has been playing a more aggressive brand of cricket and the results have been encouraging, so has the love from the fans.  Our game too has evolved- it has become faster and aggressive. These innovations like the Slash design and movement helps the team be quicker on the field.”

Keerthana Ramakrishnan, Marketing Head, Nike India Pvt. Ltd., said “At Nike, it is in our DNA to listen to the voice of the athlete. The design team at Nike put in extensive hours of research and testing with athletes from the national team and beyond to understand the needs of the modern-day cricketer. We are glad to take inspiration from the fearless attitude of this team and combine it with some of Nike’s renowned innovations from across the globe to bring to life this new ODI kit for the national cricket team”

Nike’s purpose is to use the power of sport to move the world forward. We believe in a fair, sustainable future—one where everyone thrives on a healthy planet and level playing field. Team India’s kits are constructed with recycled polyester delivering unrivaled performance and lower environmental impact.

The Team India jerseys will be available at select Nike retail across India.
