The National Geographic Channel (NGC) has revamped its programming schedule and introduced other changes to attract more viewers and advertisers. The changes implemented from this month includes exclusive India feed to help the advertisers, shifting of prime time from 10.00 p.m. to midnight to 9.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.
The channel is also trying to induce appointment viewing by introducing genre-wise programme packages.
With the change, NGC viewers can watch two one-hour clear blocks of programmes, Monday to Friday. This includes wildlife documentaries under ‘Wild’ from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. and ‘Family Hour’ documentaries from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. These programmes were earlier aired on Sundays.
Of the NGC attractions will be ‘Friday Frontiers’ and ‘Violent Earth’ on Fridays; ‘Adventure One’ on Tuesdays; and ‘People and Places’ on Wednesdays, among others. Also, its popular programme National Geographic Specials has been brought to prime time on Sundays and Mondays. And, ‘Saturday Unlimited’, three-hour blockbuster special will be aired every Saturday.
