Solgram, a premium, quality-led grocery platform built around an end-to-end temperature-controlled cold supply chain, has raised over US$1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital, with participation from serial hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra. The round closed within a quarter of the company's launch in Gurugram.
The capital will be used to expand Solgram's cold-chain infrastructure, strengthen its technology stack, deepen sourcing relationships and scale operations across the National Capital Region (NCR) followed by other key markets in the coming months.
As Indian consumers become increasingly comfortable buying fresh produce, dairy, meats and other perishables online, Solgram is building for a more elevated grocery experience - one in which convenience is matched by quality, curation, provenance and closer attention to how fresh and temperature-sensitive products are stored, handled and delivered.
At the core of Solgram's model is an end-to-end temperature-controlled cold supply chain covering sourcing, receiving, quality inspection, storage, fulfilment and last-mile delivery. Its stores are fully temperature-controlled, with dedicated temperature zones for different product categories. Quality checks are carried out at every stage, from receiving and storage to picking and packing. Orders are packed in specially designed, sealed and insulated thermal packaging, while dedicated last-mile infrastructure helps maintain appropriate product conditions until delivery to the customer’s doorstep.
Solgram combines this infrastructure with a curated assortment spanning fresh produce, dairy, meats and seafood, bakery, gourmet pantry and emerging food brands. The platform also features Mindful Mode, a dedicated health-first layer for consumers seeking cleaner labels, transparent nutrition and clearer provenance. Customers can choose between scheduled batched delivery and an express tier, allowing the platform to serve different shopping occasions without defining the proposition around a single delivery-time promise.
The platform also features Solgram, its private-label range, offering a curated selection of products across categories such as dry fruits and breads, alongside Solfoods, its fresh café offering freshly made-to-order products including fresh-pressed juices, salads and freshly cut fruits.
“In fresh grocery, quality is often won or lost long before the order reaches the customer. You can source an exceptional product, but if temperature, handling or fulfilment break down anywhere along the journey, the customer never experiences that quality. As consumers increasingly turn to digital platforms for their grocery needs, the opportunity is to look beyond convenience and build an experience that places equal emphasis on quality, curation and trust. At Solgram, that means rethinking how fresh, premium and temperature-sensitive products move from sourcing and storage through fulfilment and the last mile. We are bringing together the infrastructure, technology and operating discipline needed to serve a more considered grocery basket, with the ambition of setting a new benchmark for premium grocery retail in India,” said Shashank Shekhar Sharma, Founder, Solgram.
Shashank brings nearly two decades of operating experience across hospitality, foodservice, supply chain, quick commerce and premium grocery, with first-hand exposure to quality standards, fresh-food operations, technology-enabled fulfilment and the complexity of scaling food-led businesses.
“Quick commerce has fundamentally changed how urban India shops for groceries, but the premium, considered basket remains underserved. Solgram is building for that occasion from first principles with cold chain to the doorstep, a curated fresh and health-first assortment, and a model designed around quality rather than speed alone. Shashank brings a rare combination of hospitality, food retail, quick commerce and premium grocery experience, which gives us strong conviction in his ability to build this category thoughtfully. We are delighted to partner with him and the Solgram team as they build the business one cluster at a time.” said Deepak Shahdadpuri, Managing Director, DSG Consumer Partners.
"Indian consumers have already shown a strong appetite for convenience and premiumization. The next opportunity lies in building deeper trust in categories where quality and consistency matter. Solgram's differentiated cold-chain operating model, combined with its disciplined, cluster-led approach to expansion, gives it a clear proposition in an increasingly competitive grocery market." said Mr. Ash Lilani, Founder and Managing Partner, Saama Capital.
Solgram is currently live in Gurugram, with expansion planned across NCR, followed by other Tier-1 cities in the coming months. The company intends to build density and operating consistency within each cluster before expanding further.
As online grocery in India matures, Solgram aims to set a new benchmark for premium grocery retail - combining curated products, a differentiated cold supply chain and a more considered customer experience built around quality, trust and convenience.
