As in the previous years, this year, too, print players have lined up exclusive content and pullouts as platforms for advertisers and to woo readers

Print players on ad overdrive in Kerala for Onam

With Onam, Kerala’s biggest festival, just a day away, activity amongst print players in Kerala have reached a frenzied pitch. Special content and pullouts are serving as platforms for advertisers, especially from sectors like textiles, automobiles, jewellery and local retail outlets.

Print players are also organizing several activities across the state to engage the readers. For instance, Malayala Manorama has created a record by making a huge floral carpet, known as Pookalam. Around 500 people from across the state participated in creating this Pookalam.

Talking to exchange4media, Varghese Chandy, General Manager, Malayala Manorama, said, “We have also planned a twin issue of our paper for Onam as there are several stories and plenty of advertisements to be placed.”

This twin issue will feature stories in various sections like, lifestyle, politics, entertainment and sports. Advertisers from various verticals like automobiles, FMCG, white goods and jewellery are heavily advertising in the print medium.

Deepika, published by Rashtra Deepika, has planned volume based discount packages to its readers. The publication will have special Onam pullouts as well as its Onam annual year book.

Videocon, Sony, Godrej, IFB, LG, Samsung and and Onida are some of the advertisers on board for the special Onam issues.
