'Find Me in My Neverland' can be termed borderline non-fictional: Harish Khatri

Find Me in My Neverland, a book by Harish Khatri, has recently hit the shelves, exploring the depth of friendships and relationships. The book dives into the enchanting tale of two souls connecting through words, weaving a bond across unseen boundaries.

Khatri, who began his career as the Business Head of Sports and Entertainment of GroupM Media, saw his penmanship flourish during the Covid times and created a simple yet impactful conversational format book.

He said, “Anybody who is an avid reader, would somewhere down the line, want to write something. Because I have been an avid reader all my life. This thing was always there and I wanted to write something somewhere. And that's how at the time of COVID only I started writing it. It took me almost 4 years to complete it.”

He believes what differentiates a fiction book from a non-fiction book is imagination versus reality. The top four aspects that decide a book’s genre are situation, motion, character and dialogue, said the author. When even one of these aspects is imaginative, it becomes a fictional book.

“The best part about this book is, even though it is fictional, the conversations, situations, and dialogues make it feel so real that it can be termed as ‘borderline non-fictional'," he added.  

When it comes to the inspiration of the protagonists of the novel, Khatri said, “This is the reason why the characters have no name. So for somebody who is reading it, they need to see themselves as the main characters. As per their own gender, they need to become he or she.”

He also highlighted that the idea of Neverland came from his own imagination as anybody who keeps going back to their thoughts and forgets about their surroundings, is majorly in their own Neverland.

Shedding light on the characters, Khatri revealed that their relationship is at 99. It's just below a romantic relationship, hence, they are not a couple but they have a huge emotional bond with each other.

Khatri was one of the founding members of GroupM ESP and helped the organisation establish its events and sports activation in India. He then became the Regional Head and Vice President of Deccan Chargers for one year (2008-09), where he managed the sponsorships and fan experience for the IPL team.

During 2010-2017, he became the Managing Director of Redwood Media and then kickstarted his entrepreneurial journey with India Assist- An Assistance & Distress Management startup working to ensure travellers have an easy time in new locations, new cultures and in an unknown environment.

The book is published by Worldly Wise Publishers and is available at all major bookstores including Crossword, Oxford Bookstore, and Kunzum. The book will also be available on all major e-commerce platforms.
