Meta’s latest quarterly results reinforced the growing strength of its messaging ecosystem, with WhatsApp emerging as a central pillar in the company’s revenue mix. In the third quarter of 2025, revenue from the Family of Apps’ “other” category rose to $690 million, marking a 59% year-on-year increase. This growth was primarily driven by WhatsApp’s paid messaging business and Meta Verified subscriptions, signaling the accelerating shift toward conversational commerce.
Business interactions across Meta’s messaging platforms have surged, with more than a billion active threads daily between users and business accounts. The company’s Business AI tools are being positioned as scalable solutions to help enterprises automate customer engagement and boost sales efficiency.
Meta’s financial leadership highlighted the rapid expansion of its click-to-WhatsApp ads, which delivered a 60% year-on-year revenue increase during the quarter. The company also broadened access to its Business AI offerings in the Philippines and Mexico, where millions of conversations have already taken place since July. Availability has now expanded to eligible businesses on WhatsApp and Messenger in these markets, with initial rollout beginning in the United States as well.
Looking ahead, Meta plans to further monetize WhatsApp through ad placements in the Status feature, with full rollout expected next year. The surge in click-to-WhatsApp ads and the growing adoption of AI-driven business tools underline Meta’s successful pivot toward making chat-based commerce a core driver of its next growth phase.
