The Times of India announced today that they are launching a news app for Nokia's Ovi store. Earlier, the ToI has already released apps for the iPad, iPhone, Android and Blackberry marketplaces. The app provides users with news from the Times of India, along with interactive content and photo content.
The app is compatible with all Nokia smartphones running the Symbian and S60 platforms. Rishi Khiani, CEO Times Internet said, "The partnership with Nokia is important and strategic for us as both brands lead their respective segments. With this app, millions of Nokia owners across the globe will be able to access news on the move."
Viral Oza, Director Marketing, Nokia India, said, "Our partnership with Times of India is a big step towards providing readers easy and simplified access to news from their mobile devices. Times of India's unique content and Nokia's unparalleled reach now offers readers the chance to be completely up to date with news from India and the world, no matter where they are."
While this means that the Times of India is now available on all platforms, it is perhaps telling that they decided to launch on iOS first (where the app was the top downloaded app in the Indian app store), and went with Nokia last, even though the numbers in India are still firmly on Nokia's side. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
