Spotify all set to enter India in next few months: Reports
Spotify is said to have finalised deals with several right holders in India over the past few months
Music streaming service Spotify is all set to enter India in the first quarter of 2019, according to media reports. The Swedish company has finalised deals with several right holders in India over the past few months, state reports quoting unnamed people close to the development.
One of the most popular music streaming app in the world, Spotify is currently present in more than 75 countries, including markets such as Europe, America and Middle East. Presence in India is being seen as a major opportunity for the company as the country, with a population of 1.3 billion people, is one of the fastest growing music markets in the world.
According to reports, in India, Spotify will offer a trial period for full access that’s longer than the company’s standard 30 days. Some reports even suggest that the company has already hired employees for its India operations.
In India, Spotify will have to compete with popular local apps like Gaana and Saavn, along with Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Amazon Music.
Spotify is said to have a total of 87 million paid subscribers.
