A court in Rome has ruled that Netflix’s subscription price increases in Italy over the past seven years were unlawful. As per media reports, the court has ordered Netflix to reimburse affected customers, the consumer association Movimento Consumatori said.
The court upheld the association’s lawsuit against Netflix Italia, declaring unfair the contractual clauses that allowed the company to raise subscription fees between 2017 and January 2024. The decision cited a breach of Italy’s Consumer Code, noting that price changes were imposed without valid justification in the contract.
