OpenAI has unveiled its inaugural web browser, dubbed ChatGPT Atlas. At present, Atlas is exclusive to Mac devices. The announcement in this regard was made on Tuesday.
Unlike traditional browsers, Atlas does away with the standard address bar, putting ChatGPT front and center instead. The launch has put OpenAI in direct competition with major tech players like Google and Microsoft, who dominate the browser space with Chrome and Edge.
Conceived by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the Atlas browser is designed around ChatGPT, letting users navigate the web with the aid of AI.
This rollout represents OpenAI’s newest effort to leverage its 800 million weekly ChatGPT users.
