Google single policy for users

Global digital giant Google has unveiled fresh policies for users. As per a statement released by Google globally to its viewers, the company is getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that’s a lot shorter and easier to read. “Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google,” states the policy note.

The new policy of Google enables a single product experience across all its properties. The policy synchronises the content and experience across all Google platforms, including Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube and Google Plus. Users can move across all these applications and synchronise their data and updates with one another. For instance, if a user is signed into Google, the application will suggest search queries, or tailor search results based on the interests of the users expressed in Google+, Gmail and YouTube. “We’ll better understand which version of Pink or Jaguar you’re searching for and get you those results faster,” states the policy.

For instance, the new system will memorise creation of an online document created by a user and will recommend its sharing to the user when he is using another product or service of Google. This will, however, not alter the privacy of the users in the usage of different services. On the privacy side, the policy explains that the move only offers its users as many choices and options as possible without tampering with the privacy and secrecy.

“Our privacy principles remain unchanged. And we’ll never sell your personal information or share it without your permission (other than rare circumstances like valid legal requests),” the report concludes.

The new policy comes into force from March1, 2012 globally.
