India is at a turning point. As majoritarianism rises and press freedom hits historic lows, Spot On is officially launching to inform and engage young Indians by amplifying critical underreported narratives in innovative formats.
Sruthi Gottipati, a journalist and media executive who built Brut India from scratch into the most-watched English-language publisher across social platforms in the country, is now creating her own company focused on public-interest news at a time when such coverage is needed the most.
Spot On meets young Indians where they are with punchy, platform-native video news. By speaking directly to them and not at them, the creatordriven publisher serves Gen Z and Millennials with independent journalism that’s urgent, accessible, and unflinchingly honest.
“We’re in a unique moment in time,” Sruthi says. “India is arguably seeing the most significant shift in its identity since Partition. The country is moving from a secular constitutional republic toward a Hindu nationalist State — and journalism must respond to that reality. Spot On exists to hold power to account, even when, and especially if, it’s not popular to do so, and create a sustainable and scalable model for free media.”
