Rajiv Dubey, Vice President, Head of Media and Head of Brand Activations at Dabur India, marks his birthday today, January 7, offering an occasion to reflect on a career that has quietly but decisively shaped the media and activation playbook of one of India’s most trusted FMCG companies.

At Dabur India, Dubey oversees the company’s media investments across television, digital, print, radio and outdoor, while also steering consumer and trade activations. His mandate spans delivering efficiency, driving measurable returns on media spends and strengthening the visibility and reputation of Dabur’s diverse portfolio of brands across categories.

Dubey’s journey with Dabur spans more than three decades, a tenure that mirrors the company’s own evolution in India’s fast-changing media and marketing landscape. He joined Dabur in 1994 as a media manager and went on to play a key role in setting up Adbur, the company’s in-house agency. During this phase, he worked closely with leading broadcasters such as All India Radio, Doordarshan, Zee and Star Network, as well as major newspaper groups including The Times of India, helping Dabur build direct, strategic relationships with media owners.

Over the years, his responsibilities expanded in step with the growing complexity of media planning and buying. Recently elevated to Vice President, Dubey now also leads brand activations and experiential marketing initiatives, reflecting Dabur’s increasing focus on integrated consumer engagement beyond conventional advertising.

Before joining Dabur, Dubey began his career in advertising sales. He started out at Lokmat in 1992, where he worked as an ad sales executive for a year. This was followed by a stint at Zee Telefilms, where he handled ad sales for the Kolkata region. These early roles laid the foundation for his deep understanding of both the media owner and advertiser sides of the business.

His contributions at Dabur have been recognised internally as well. Dubey has received the Eureka Award for new idea generation and has also been named Employee of the Year for outstanding performance.

Beyond the boardroom, Dubey is known for his commitment to fitness and data-driven thinking. A cycling enthusiast, marathon runner and stair climber, he brings the same discipline and consistency to his personal pursuits as he does to his professional life.

As he celebrates another year, Dubey’s career stands as an example of long-term stewardship in Indian marketing, one built on deep media insight, operational rigour and an ability to adapt as platforms, technologies and consumer behaviours continue to evolve.
