As Mohit Joshi celebrates his birthday today, it is also a moment to reflect on a professional journey that mirrors the evolution of India’s modern media planning and buying ecosystem. Over nearly three decades, Joshi has built a reputation as a steady operator who combines strategic clarity with execution discipline, shaping some of the country’s most important agency relationships and organisational turnarounds.
Currently CEO of Havas Media Network India, a role he assumed in November 2020, Joshi has led the group through a period marked by structural shifts in media consumption, accelerated digital adoption, and heightened pressure on measurable outcomes. His mandate has been clear: deliver growth at twice the pace of the market even in challenging conditions. Under his leadership, the network has sharpened its focus on data-led planning, integrated solutions and scalable client partnerships across categories.
Joshi’s association with Havas Media dates back more than a decade. Before taking over as CEO, he served as Managing Director from 2015 to 2020 and earlier led Havas Media India, then MPG India. During those years, he oversaw national operations while navigating market fragmentation and consolidation cycles. The strategic tie-up between TME and MPG, forged during this phase, gave the agency additional leverage across markets and strengthened its operational footprint.
His earlier stint at MPG saw him progress from Managing Partner India to Executive Director North and Vice President roles, where he managed multiple markets, strengthened client portfolios and deepened P&L discipline. These years also saw the agency transition from a single large-client model to a diversified base, with relationships such as MTS and Hyundai helping anchor its growth.
Before MPG, Joshi held senior planning roles at Zenith Optimedia and Universal McCann, working closely on Nestlé’s media strategy and systems. His grounding in planning began at Mindshare, managing the GSK account, and earlier at HTA, where he handled multiple GlaxoSmithKline brands. He began his career in manufacturing at Coats Viyella, where he led production and ISO processes.
Across roles, Joshi’s trajectory reflects consistency rather than spectacle. His leadership style has remained rooted in process, scale and accountability.
