Kareena Kapoor Khan believes self-love is no longer just a personal choice—it’s also a powerful branding mindset. Speaking at Goafest 2025 during a fireside session titled “Main Apni Favourite Hoon: Not Just a Line. A Mindset”, Kapoor reflected on how the iconic dialogue from the 2007 film Jab We Met shaped her personal brand and has remained relevant in shaping narratives around identity and confidence.

“That line changed not just my career but also my life. It’s not just a dialogue anymore—it’s a philosophy. When you love yourself, you can give love to others—your family, fans, and the characters you play,” she told host Atika Farooqi in the packed session.

Kareena's session was a reflection of how celebrities today are leaning into authenticity as a long-term brand strategy. “Unapologetically herself,” is how she described her personal brand. The statement was not just a nod to her public image, but also a broader insight into how staying consistent yet evolving has helped her stay relevant in an industry marked by trends and churn.

In a conversation that touched on cinema, family, media, and brand longevity, Kareena pointed to authenticity and smart choices as the key ingredients for career resilience. “Talent is essential, but so is being smart with choices. Authenticity and resisting trends have kept me relevant,” she said, adding that taking risks has helped her grow—like her recent choice to star in the dark, unconventional thriller The Devotion of Suspect X.

Addressing the common stereotype that actresses lose their appeal or opportunities post marriage or motherhood, Kareena was clear: “That’s an outdated mindset. Like male professionals, women should thrive post-marriage. I’ve done some of my best work after becoming a mother.” The remark resonated with many in the audience and reflected changing gender norms in both entertainment and marketing.

From a marketing and advertising lens, Kapoor’s session emphasized the increasing value of real, relatable storytelling. She noted how audiences today reward sincerity and depth over glamour alone. “Brave choices matter more than box office numbers,” she said, acknowledging the industry's shift toward meaningful narratives.

Touching upon the evolution of Indian cinema, Kareena said digital and regional formats have democratised content and expanded opportunities. “It’s a great time for actors. I’m open to new languages and formats. Audiences today are open-minded, and that’s exciting,” she said.

When asked about media interactions, she admitted her approach has become more selective. “I’ve always been honest, but now I prefer staying low-profile and focusing on my craft and family.” She also credited family life—especially her relationship with Saif Ali Khan—as central to her personal and professional stability.

Marketers looking to decode what makes a celebrity brand last could take note of Kapoor’s strategy: build a foundation on truth, stay emotionally consistent, don’t be afraid to evolve, and most importantly, bet on yourself.

As Kapoor wrapped up with a memory of her grandfather Raj Kapoor—sharing mangoes and language love—it was a reminder that brand building, whether for a person or a company, always starts with the personal.
