Coming down heavily on news channels, advertising veteran Sam Balsara has criticized Indian news channels and said that they are repetitive and have to break out of current rhythm of content.
The founder, chairman and managing director of Madison World and Madison Communications, Balsara, in a scathing attack on news channels, has said that in the current scenario, news is repetitive.
“There are many opportunities for news channels to innovate and be more humane, but repetitive news content is bringing the viewership down. In the first week of lockdown, viewership of news channels had shot up 300%, but today, it has drastically come down,” he said.
Balsara was speaking to Kailashnath Adhikari, MD, Governance Now, in the Visionary Talk series on the topic ‘Impact of Covid - 19 on media and entertainment industry and the role of governance in the media sector’.
