Hindustan Unilever ad insertions up by 29% from previous week: BARC India

As per the data, Week 22 saw more new brands in the top ten list

The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India said that week 22 witnessed an increase of 5.6% in the total number of insertions and also saw more new brands in the top ten list. However, the total insertions for the top ten advertiser category dropped by 1.6%, even though the largest spender, Hindustan Unilever’s total insertion increased by 29.6% from the previous week. 

The total insertions for the top ten advertisers stand at 440,935 in week 22 as compared to 448,089 in week 21. Meanwhile, insertions for brands stand at 135346 as compared to 128,166 in the previous week. 

In the advertisers' category this week, Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest spender on television, registering a 29% increase in ad insertions from the previous week. The advertiser registered 273346 insertions in week 22 as compared to 211641 insertions in week 21. 

As per the weekly data, Brooke Bond Lipton India replaced Reckitt Benckiser on the second spot and recorded 31088 insertions followed by Reckitt Benckiser, which slid to the number third spot, registering 24866 insertions. 

ITC Ltd bagged the fourth spot with 20175 insertions followed by Colgate Palmolive India on the fifth spot with 18968 insertions and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd on the sixth spot with 18585 insertions. Meanwhile, Wipro jumped to number seven from eight with 17583 insertions and Godrej Consumer Products bagged the eighth spot with 13333 insertions. Cadburys India and SmithKline Beecham stood at number nine and ten with 11721 insertions and 11269 insertions respectively.   

Like the previous week, this week too saw some new entrants in brands top ten list like Sunslik, Santoor Sandal and Turmeric, Close Up Ever Fresh and Surf Excel Easy Wash. 

In the top ten list, Lux Toilet Soap emerged the number one brand and registered 25245 insertions followed by Horlicks on the second spot with 15810 insertions and Clinic Plus Shampoo on the third with 13742 insertions. 

Dove Hair Fall Rescue and Sunsilk Black Shine bagged the fourth and fifth spot with 12287 and 12045 insertions respectively. 

Pears slid to number sixth from fourth this week with 11614 insertions followed by new entrant Santoor Sandal And Turmeric on the seventh spot with 11446 insertions and Close Up Ever Fresh on the eighth spot with 11241 insertions. Surf Excel Easy Wash and Lifebuoy Toilet Soap stood at number nine and ten with 11159 insertions and 10757 insertions respectively.
