Anupriya Acharya to join ZO as Group CEO

Anupriya Acharya is all set to don the skipper’s hat again as she takes on the role of Group CEO of ZenithOptimedia. She will be based in Mumbai. Highly placed sources have confirmed the development to exchange4media.

After a short stint of about 16 months, Acharya recently put in her papers as Leader, Client Leadership, South Asia at Mindshare Fulcrum – a unit of Mindshare that manages the media planning and buying for the Unilever business in South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

It is understood that her new mandate will also include Publicis Groupe’s recently acquired digital marketing agency Resultrix.

India is a key market for ZenithOptimedia (ZO), with brands such as Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, etc. in its kitty, and this development is significant for ‘the RoI agency’. In a recent interview with exchange4media, Steve King, CEO, ZenithOptimedia Worldwide had said that India is an important market for the agency and it wants to have a stronger presence in the country in the next three to five years. Acharya coming on board as Group CEO seems like a step in that direction.

Before joining Mindshare Fulcrum, she was the CEO of Aegis Media Singapore.

Acharya was among IMPACT’s Top 50 Most Influential Women 2013. She was also part of the esteemed jury for IMPACT’s Top 30 Under 30.

She has held various leadership roles at companies such as TME, Ogilvy, GroupM and McCann Erickson. She is a Post Graduate in Analytical Chemistry from IIT Roorkee.

Acharya and ZO officials did not confirm the news at the time of filing the report.
