Over the years, Natasha has worked across industries like lifestyle, start-ups, real estate, education, travel, banking, insurance and entertainment, giving her a well-rounded understanding of how brands connect with their audiences. She has partnered with several well-known companies, managing their end-to-end communication needs from building strategy to leading execution.

She also shares the trends she’s seeing in real estate and corporate communications, her approach to building talent, how AI and digital tools are shaping the industry, advice for young PR professionals, and what’s next for her and Story Brews in the coming years.

Excerpts:

How did your journey in PR and communications begin? What were the early challenges you faced when you started out in the industry, and how did you transition from a corporate career to entrepreneurship?

Early in my career, I learned the essentials across agencies and corporate roles, where rapid turnarounds and constant reinvention were everyday challenges. These experiences significantly strengthened my strategic thinking and adaptability.

However, the seed for my PR journey was planted much earlier—during my graduation, when I was unsure of what career to choose beyond the predictable options. Coming from a small town, one's world often feels limited. That changed when my father handed me Alyque Padamsee’s book – A Double Life. It opened my mind to the possibilities of advertising and PR, profoundly influencing my path.

Over time, I realized I wanted greater creative freedom and hands-on impact, which inspired my shift to entrepreneurship. Story Brews was born from that desire to build meaningful narratives with purpose and agility.

What inspired you to launch Story Brews Communications and how do you differentiate your approach in such a competitive space?

I always knew I wanted to build something of my own because I'm not someone who can stay confined to a single track—I thrive on continuous evolution, new challenges, and a persistent hunger to grow. That mindset inspired the launch of Story Brews Communications.

What truly sets us apart is our instinct to move beyond template-led PR. We infuse every mandate with strategic thinking, creative storytelling, and deep sector understanding. This ensures each client receives a tailored, thoughtful, and high-impact communication approach, rather than a generic, one-size-fits-all solution.

Having worked across diverse sectors like real estate, education, travel, and banking — how has the industry evolved, and how has this cross-sector experience shaped your PR strategy today?

Working across sectors like real estate, education, travel, and banking has given me a front-row view of how PR has evolved from being largely media-driven to becoming an integrated, insight-led function.

Each sector operates with its own tempo, audience behaviour, and unique storytelling cues. This cross-sector exposure has made me significantly more agile and strategic in crafting narratives. Today, my approach focuses on data-backed positioning, consistent brand reputation building, and creating stories that resonate across traditional, digital, and industry-specific platforms. This ensures every campaign is both contextual and highly impactful.

You’ve spent significant time in real estate communications with PropTiger, Housing.com, and Cushman & Wakefield. What makes real estate PR distinct from other industries? What trends are you currently observing in real estate and corporate communications?

Real estate PR is distinct because the sector is deeply intertwined with lifestyle, community building, and long-term financial decision-making. Early in my career, I often wondered how one could be “innovative” in real estate communication, but the sector is incredibly vast — from housing trends and buyer sentiment to policy, infrastructure, sustainability, and design. Today, storytelling is more insight-driven, data-backed, and hyper-local. I’m also seeing a strong shift toward credibility-led communications, leadership visibility, and purpose-driven narratives as homebuyers seek greater trust and transparency.

How would you describe your leadership style as an entrepreneur?

My leadership style is empowering and collaborative. I strongly believe in giving my team the freedom to think, experiment, and be innovative in their approach. PR is a dynamic function — each client has a unique story, personality, and business need, and I encourage my team to craft customised strategies that truly reflect that. I focus on guiding rather than directing, creating a space where ideas flow openly, accountability is shared, and everyone feels motivated to deliver their best.

What do you love most about your job, and how do you approach nurturing and building talent within your team?

What I love most about my job is the creative freedom it offers and the constant drive it gives me to push boundaries. I’m naturally aggressive and hungry for growth, and I try to channel that energy into inspiring my team. Building talent is a priority for me — I stay approachable, encourage open conversations, and support their professional and personal well-being. We hold yoga sessions, one-on-one check-ins, fun activities, and continuous learning discussions. Most importantly, every team member, from Junior Executives to Senior Managers, is given complete creative freedom to explore, experiment, and excel.

How do you see AI, analytics, and digital storytelling shaping the future of PR and communications?

With so much of our work centered around writing, research, and narrative building, AI has become a powerful support tool — helping professionals verify content, refine messaging, and improve overall accuracy and speed. Analytics, on the other hand, enable us to understand audience behaviour, measure impact, and shape sharper communication strategies. Combined with immersive digital storytelling formats, these tools are helping PR teams create more personalised, real-time, and engaging narratives while still retaining the human creativity that drives the industry.

At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge that AI is also a disrupter — the ease of copy-paste can impact original thinking, and this remains a debatable space. Like any innovation, it comes with both pros and cons, and the key lies in using it mindfully to elevate our craft.

What advice would you give to young professionals entering the PR industry?

My advice to young professionals entering the PR industry is to treat this field as a passion, not just a profession. PR is demanding and fast-paced — you are constantly managing client expectations, media deadlines, and high-pressure situations. What truly helps you grow is staying calm, composed, and solution-oriented even in stressful moments. Diplomacy is equally essential, as you often navigate diverse viewpoints and sensitivities. Be curious, stay updated, build strong relationships, and most importantly, enjoy the process of storytelling and strategy. If you love what you do, PR becomes incredibly rewarding.

What’s next for you and Story Brews Communications in the coming years?

We have an ambitious vision for Story Brews Communications in the coming years. We’re taking a very aggressive growth-focused approach, backed by strong execution and deeper sectoral expertise. We are actively expanding our team and strengthening our presence across multiple cities in India to cater to a growing and diverse client base. At the same time, we’re preparing to take the brand global — with plans to enter the UAE market by 2026. The goal is to build a stronger, more agile integrated communications firm with a wider footprint and sharper capabilities.
